Michael Stevenson

Michael Stevenson was appointed conductor of Epsom Chamber Choir in 1990. His training was at Trinity College of Music, London, where his subjects included organ, conducting, oboe and piano. He also studied singing with Ellis Keeler at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He won a conducting scholarship while studying with Bernard Keefe and has since specialised in choral conducting, having also worked with a number of eminent choral specialists including Geoffrey Mitchell. As well as his freelance career he has been a member of staff at Junior Trinity College of Music and Director of Music at several schools including his current post at Hoe Bridge School, Woking. In 2004 he gained a distinction for a Master's degree in Music Education at Kingston University and is currently researching prior to starting a PhD in the future. Most recently he has been involved in a new programme entitled Music Through Art for the National Portrait Gallery.
